Foundation Health Educators offer free Workshops for National Human Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation Prevention Month

The Foundation supports the Human Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation Prevention movement. Our president, Barack Obama, has declared January as National Human Trafficking and Prevention month. He has challenged communities to take part in the eradication of this detrimental issue and to spread awareness that this problem is not limited to international borders -- it is alive and effecting us here in the Inland Empire.

Diabetes Conversation Map Classes Added
January, February and March Schedule
Foundation partner Riverside Community Diabetes Collaborative has added multiple classes to its January, February, and March Conversation Map Class schedule.
A Conversation Map ® education session is designed to help you discover what you want and need to know about managing your diabetes or that of a loved one. Join our conversation! Sessions are FREE.

Classes are held in English and Spanish.

Power to End Stroke Classes

can happen to people of any age, even children with sickle cell disease. But
the older you are the greater your risk for stroke.

Learning your risk factors you can help prevent stroke for yourself and people
you love.

to a free class to educate yourself and your family on how to reduce the risk
of stroke and learn how to make healthy life style changes.

Pair of Diabetes Seminars Address Emotional Impact of Diabetes

Diabetes has many negative physical side effects, but it has many emotional ones as well. Emotional well-being in relation to diabetes management is often pushed to the background by the more immediate physical symptoms of the disease. However, emotional strength is key to successful diabetes management, a message that is emphasized by the Behavioral Diabetes Institute, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people with diabetes live long, healthy and happy lives.

Riverside City Hall Lights Up for World Diabetes Day

What do the Taj Mahal in India, the Nobel Peace
Center in Norway, the Nelson Mandela Bridge in South Africa, and Riverside City Hall have in common? All of these landmarks were lit in blue this past week as
part of the Word Diabetes Day Monument Challenge issued by the International
Diabetes Federation (IDF).
Each year the IDF, an organization dedicated to the
interest of people with diabetes and those at risk of developing diabetes,
encourages organizations to light buildings and monuments in blue to raise
awareness about World Diabetes Day on November 14. According to IDF’s website,
614 structures have been lit in blue around the world so far this November. Four
other buildings in California are listed on IDF’s website: the State Capital
building in Sacramento, the Frank Lloyd Wright Civic Center in Marin County, Union
Square in San Francisco, and Amylin Corporate Headquarters in San Diego.

'Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds' turn out for Jurupa Valley Fair

Hundreds of parents, teachers and residents turned up at Troth Street
Elementary School’s first “Healthy Bodies and Healthy Minds” community health
fair and 100 Mile Club Run on Nov. 5.
The event marked the official opening of Troth’s new running track, the first
of its kind to be built at an elementary school in the Jurupa Valley School
District, and highlighted the school’s and community’s commitment to empowering
youths and families to make healthy choices.
Riverside Community Health Foundation, a public nonprofit charity, partnered
with Troth to hold the event to raise awareness about free and low-cost health
services and resources available in the Riverside area.
